Mykola Tomenko resigned from the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In particular, he stressed that:
"During the last period the Verkhovna Rada evolved from a representative body of people into the Institute of Service of the political regime of Viktor Yanukovych.
Yesterday?s voting for the bill on language issues contrary to the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure put the last sad period in the history of the Verkhovna Rada of the VI convocation.
We have not the Parliament but the place for adopting decisions in for the benefit of one party, the one organized by the authorities, crime groups with bandit mentality and prison vocabulary.
It is incorrect and impossible to stay in the presidium of such a Verkhovna Rada.
That is why I wrote a letter of resignation from the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at my own wish on July 3, 2012".
